How to Rid the Body of a Yeast Infection, Naturally.

We all have yeast a.k.a. Candida.  It becomes a destructive problem or health issue when there is an overgrowth of yeast in the body that penetrates the intestinal wall and spreads throughout the blood stream.
A Yeast free, nutrient rich diet is key to fighting yeast overgrowth
We have decided to cover this topic this week on our blog because a lot of our friends are having serious health issues with recurring Yeast overgrowth and infections. As a means to a healthier and sustainable living, we promote staying healthy and that includes staying yeast (overgrowth) free!
Candida in the body. (Microbelibrary.org)
Candida Albicans is a form of yeast that is the cause of many undesirable symptoms ranging from weight gain, to fatigue, joint pain and gas. As it overgrows and spreads, it produces toxic by-products that cause damage to your body tissues and organs, wreaking havoc on the immune system. Causes of yeast overgrowth in the body may stem from anything from a few courses of antibiotics, or a prolonged diet rich in sugar and carbohydrates.

So if you suspect that you have an overgrowth, the first place to look is your lifestyle, your eating habits, and in some cases your wardrobe to find what could have caused this imbalance. A diet high in sugar and carbohydrates? Drugs and alcohol?  Or all of the above? Eliminating all of these risk factors is a crucial step in restoring balance in the body.
Absolutely NO ALCOHOL should be consumed during you fight against a yeast overgrowth. It may be re-introduced back weeks after your yeast has cleared. In little amounts.

As a past sufferer of an overgrowth of yeast, and after all the prescribed antibiotics I refused to use (antibiotics does not stop the overgrowth, it just clears the symptoms, but the overgrowth remains). I took the following steps to restore yeast balance in my body:

STAGE 1: The Cleanse:

You can decide to get a colonic cleanse to rid your body of the toxins in your colon and intestines. A color do the following, like I did:

  1. Eat only raw salads and steamed vegetables
  2. Buy organic if you can
  3. Drink a detox drink twice each day: 1 large cup of water/ 1 flat tablespoon of soluble fiber/ 1 flat tablespoon of Bentonite Clay
  4. Drink a liver flush every evening, at least two hours after your last detox drink:1 cup water/  1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil/ 1 clove of garlic/ Small chunk of fresh ginger
  5. Do the cleanse for 7-14 days
  6. If you suffer from a vaginal yeast infection, avoid tight clothing, (wear breathable clothing and clean cotton panties indefinitely)
  7. ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL.

STAGE 2: Changing my eating habits

I avoided sugars (Try Xylitol or Stevia instead), honey, agave, sweeteners, all processed meats (they contain antibiotics), cheeses, dairy products, alcohol: wine, beer, liquors, even Kombucha (which I love), all breads and desserts (I LOVE desserts FYI), foods heavy in starch and carbohydrates. I consumed foods high in fibers, raw vegetables (kale, broccoli, spinach, watercress, cauliflower) , unsweetened soy milk, plain, low fat yogurt, gluten-free snacks and foods, fruits really low in sugar like berries (in moderation, if at all), zucchini, Brussel sprouts, Cabbage, Celery, Collard greens, Cucumber, Garlic (raw), Green beans, Leeks, Lettuce (all types), Olives, Onions, Radish, Rutabaga, Sauerkraut (raw), and Seaweed. I eat foods high in fiber and proteins such as organic eggs and Quinoa.

Foods to eat on the Candida Diet: Eat live, fresh and raw as much as possible, with lots of water.STAGE 3: Reintroducing foods into my body
The key to reintroducing foods that were avoided during the cleansing process is in regulation and moderation. If you are to eat any items on the Foods to Avoid List, do so one at a time and in very little quantities. Taking immune boosters such as vitamin C and probiotics that increases levels of good bacteria in the body help to maintain the balance in the body. (Images from www.live123.com)

How to get that body ready for the Beach this Summer... The Healthy Way!

We found that one of the fastest ways to get that glowing skin and fit beach-bod is to really delve deep and develop the discipline to cleanse the body, from the inside out.

Fresh vegetable juices are incredibly rich and highly recommended to detox and rejuvenate, while the process of being on a jucie cleanse helps eliminate waste from the body and boosts the skins radiance.

The healthy duration for a juice fast is a a recommended 21 days. I just finished a 12 days juice fast though. For my most recent  twelve day vegetable juice cleanse, I used a JUICE EXTRACTOR, not a blender.

Juicing is a great way to detoxify the body and cleanse your digestive system. It can be used to lose weight, remedy ailments, and even cure sicknesses. It takes the very best parts of fruits and vegetables and introduces essential nutrients and vitamins into your body. I found three of the following blends the most exciting:

Energy Mix:                          Radiant Skin Mix:                  Detoxifying Mix:

3 sticks of Celery                     2 Apples                                     6 Lemons
1 whole Cucumber                  5 Carrots                                     32 ounces of water
1 Apple                                    3 Beets                                       1/2 ounce cayenne
1 ounce of spinach                  1 Lemon                                     3 teaspoons of Grade B Maple syrup
1 ounce of Kale                      1/2 ounce of ginger
1/2 a lemon
1/2 ounce of ginger

If you decide to go on the full 21 day juice fast and cleanse, make sure to:
  •  JUICE, not blend fresh, raw vegetables
  •  Peel the skin off fruits like squash or cucumber because they make have a wax on them if you do not puchase them from a organic, fresh food market
  • Drink juice as soon as it is ready. The juice looses nutrients in oxidation as it sits out. For people on the move that want to pack their juice to go, put juice in a thermos, fill to the brim, let it even overflow a little and then close to carry. This will seal nutrients in thermos and retard oxidation
  • Consume ONLY fresh juices and water the first 8 days, lots of water, plain yogurt, salads and low sodium soups on the next 3 days, and 75% raw vegetables in the last 11 days of the cleanse
  • Throughout the cleanse, make sure to consume at least your body weight in ounces of water. E.g. I weigh 120 pounds, thus I drink a minimum of 120 ounces of water on each day of the juice fast and cleanse

How to Take Care of Your Face

We are discussing easy habits to develop when thinking of ways to improve your skin. Drinking lots of water throughout the day and hydrating, your diet and your lifestyle have a lot to do with your appearance as well. It is important though, to develop a face care routine to improve your skin. Use Yamerra’s Dual Function Natural Facial Serum to embolden your skin to greater heights of radiance.

FREE SHIPPING ON OUR NATURAL FACIAL SERUM FOR MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU WILL RECEIVE A REBATE OF $5.60 DIRECTLY AFTER YOUR ORDER ON YAMERRA.COM

You can combine the use of Yamerra’s Natural Facial Serum with the recommended routine below to rejuvenate and revive dull and tired skin, clear acne and pimples and restore overall balance to the face:
·   Wash your face twice a day, morning and night, with warm water and a natural cleanser. Gently massage your face with circular motions. Make sure to moisturize, to keep the face supple, and radiant : Buy Yamerra Natural Facial Serum Now
·    Don't pop pimples.  Popping pimples can push infected material further into the skin, leading to more swelling and redness, and even scarring.
·   Keep your applicators/brushes clean if you wear makeup, make sure to keep them covered so dust and dirt don't settle on them.
·   Avoid touching your face with your fingers and wipe your phone clean often. Touching your face can spread the bacteria that cause pores to become inflamed and irritated.
.    ALWAYS Remove your makeup before you go to sleep. If you do not wear make up, make sure just to repeat your morning routine. Include a really rich, hydrating moisturizer to your night-time regimen. It will boost skin restoration. This is especially important, because your skin gets a chance to heal while you sleep. Again we recommend Yamerra’s Natural Facial Serum that acts as a Day wear and Night wear moisturizer, providing dual functionality to the user.
.     Try to purchase a nutrient-rich exfoliating scrub you can use on the face once a week. Yamerra provides Home Sweet Home Shea Scrub, highly recommended. It works on the face to remove dead skin, increase blood flow and preventing breakouts.

Try our reccommended regimen for a month and share with us your results! We want to know what works for you.
Love, Yamerra NYC.

Yamerra's Nutrient Rich Shea Conditioning Hair Mask, at EDRIS SALON, NY.

Where can you find Yamerra's Conditioning Hair Mask?

We also would like to recommend other Homemade Hair Aids:

You can save money and get good results from these homemade, hair care products:
  • Treat damaged hair with with olive oil and egg yolk. Massage olive oil into hair. Then beat the yolk of 1 egg and massage it into hair, working from the scalp to the tip of the hair. Leave on for 10 minutes, then shampoo as usual. Do this once a week for a month for hair that is and feels healthier.
  • Condition your hair by applying mayonnaise liberally before shampooing. Apply to dry hair and let sit for 1/2 hour, then rinse and shampoo as usual.
  • Another great ingredient to boost radiance and health in the hair is fresh Avocado. The avocado, mixed with egg yolk makes for a nutrient-rich deep conditioning treatment for dry and broken hair.
  • Make sure that if you blow dry your hair after washing, you do not wring out all the water with a towel before doing so. Using a blow dryer that's too hot tends to dry out the hair and causes breaking.
Let us know if any of our recommendations work for you! We want to know that you are doing well.

Kangalicious Diaries in New York: Day Seven

Today is the final Day of Vivacious Kanga Diaries. I am using my Kanga as a hobo-bag. I went to pick up some breakfast fruit, my Kanga bag was super helpful. I tied the shorter ends, that are opposite to each other, and put the tied ends over my shoulder to make the hobo. So easy! I love that the Kanga, vibrant and colorful, can be so functional! Yamerra's guide features seven different ways to use your Kanga. There are many more! If you do not own a Kanga and want one, or are looking for a really one-of-a-kind gift, you can pick one up at:

Kangalicious Diaries in New York: Day Six

If you are just tuning into the Vivacious Kanga Diaries, welcome! Check out Day One through five, truly not to be missed. I am wearing a six year old Kanga today, look how vibrant the color still is...? A primary characteristic of the multi-use organic cotton fabric is that it gets softer and more beautiful with time. This Kanga is a Bodacious and vibrant one of red, green and yellow textiles on it.

For my fashionistas out there, this is a "Balance Line Kanga Dress". This is a very comfortable yet ultra chic and fashionable look that can be worn in the day time or for cocktails or a night out. I tied the corners on the short sides of the Kanga around my torso, then folded it and tied it again around my waist. As you can see from images below its tied twice again down the front to create the perfect "Balance Line". Check out pictures below...What do you think?

Kangalicious Diaries in New York: Day Five

Wow! Day Five of the Vivacious Kanga Diaries. I am wearing my mum's Kanga today (I borrowed it indefinitely, ha) as an over sized bolero. The fabric is stunning in orange and black with the intricate textiles on it. I've had this Kanga for years! Look how vibrant the color still is... Truly a Yamerra Treasure.

This is a very relaxed and fashionable look that anyone can pull off with a little black dress and a Kanga in their favorite colors. I tied the corners on the short sides of the Kanga and threw the "bolero" over my little black dress. My hands go through the new holes created on the left and right of the Kanga. You will also see images where I looped a belt around my waist to help hold the fabric in place. Check out pictures below...What do you think?

Be creative with your Kanga, pair it with your favorite little black dress... Great look for a breezy evening out
